Buick has set trends, and followed trends.  Always one of General Motor's most popular makes, for a number of years it ranked as the third-most popular American make, in terms of annual sales.  One of the first General Motors show cars was the 1938 "Y-Job", which led to the sweep-spear that was a Buick styling feature for many years.  In the 70's and 80's Buick made innovative use of both turbo- and super-chargers to increase performance from their V-6 engines.
